Kings House (formerly The Greyhound), East Street (RCHM 11, SMR 296)
Discussion
The creation of a strong chronology from Kings House, and
the identification that the two tiebeams were derived from
a single parent tree are the main products of this series
of cores. This cross-frame is evidently some 10-20 years later
than Gatehouse, Brick House, Swan House and possibly Wheelwrights,
whilst it is most probably slightly earlier than The Garth.
From a purely dendrochronological perspective the Kings House
chronology is one of the stronger series produced by the project.
As with all the results reported here the tree-ring chronology
is strongly local in character and this along with those from
the Garth and Old Post Office has helped date many of the
less well replicated series.
